LIMPOPO HEALTH DEPARTMENT SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE TIK TOK VIDEO OF AN OLD MAN WHOM IT IS CLAIMED THAT HE DID NOT RECEIVE CARE IN HOSPITAL
The Limpopo Department of Health wishes to request members of the public to refrain from taking and circulating videos of patients in hospitals for distortion with the aim of either discreting the public healthcare or for attentin seeking stunts. This after a video of a man on a wheelchair was circulated on Tik Tok claiming that he had not received any care and food from the hospital FH Odendaal Hospital.
The facts are as follows:
The patient in question together with his wife got invloved in a motor vehicle accident last night towards midnight in the Modimolle Mokgophong area. They were both taken to the nearest hospital which is FH Odendaal, where they were seen and treated. The patient in question was complaining of back and chest pains. He was seen by doctors at the casualty, medication was prescribed, and X Rays ware done. His wife was critically injured and doctors worked all night to try and resuscitate her. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries by sunrise.
The patient on the video was kept in hospital until his latest reviewal by doctors towards lunch time today when they decided to discharge him.
We want to confirm that the patient could walk on his own when he was discharged.
It was while awaiting his transportation home that one of his family members pulled a wheelchair for him to sit on since he was still tired since he barely slept last night. Due to his tiredness and effects of medication, he fell asleep on the wheelchair. That is when the video was taken and real facts either ommitted or deliberatly distorted .
The department is concerned with this conduct because it is devoid of any sensitivity towards the patient in question because he is still nursing his physical pain and coming to terms with the tragic passing of his beloved wife.
