POLICE ON THE HUNT FOR SUSPECTS AFTER A 32-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS KILLED IN AN ALLEGED HIJACKING OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE IN NEBO

POLOKWANE The police in Nebo have launched a manhunt operation for a group of unknown suspects responsible for the murder of a 32-year-old man who was gunned down outside his house in an alleged hijacking. The incident took place at Phokoane Village in the Sekhukhune District in the early hours of Monday, 07 August 2023 at about 01h00.

According to the information at this stage, the victim ( now deceased), his girlfriend and uncle were from a local liquor outlet when the deceased requested his girlfriend to drive his vehicle, a Toyota double cab. Upon arrival at home, the uncle entered the house leaving the couple in the vehicle. Suddenly, unknown suspects armed with firearms emerged from the darkness and ordered the couple to move to the back seat. The victims allegedly attempted to escape when the man was shot multiple times, killing him instantly.

The suspects sped off in the victim’s vehicle. Police were alerted and on arrival, they started with initial investigations and the manhunt operation for the suspects. The victim’s vehicle was recovered in the same village after the suspects abandoned it.

The Police have opened a case of murder and hijacking. The deceased was identified as Sipho Aphane.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has appealed to the community to work with the Police by providing valuable information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects responsible for this horrendous attack.
