MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS DEPORTED DURING CROSS-ALIVE ROAD SAFETY OPERATIONS IN VHEMBE DISTRICT

POLOKWANE: The Police in Limpopo deported one thousand three hundred and eighty seven undocumented immigrants and arrested fifty suspects for various offences that included selling liquor without a license, assault GBH, harbouring of undocumented persons and Contravention of Immigration Act during
joint Cross-Alive Road Safety Operations that were conducted between Monday, 31st July 2023 and Wednesday 02nd August 2023 in Musina Policing precinct and Beitbridge Border Post in Vhembe District in Limpopo Province.

This massive operation comprised of Law enforcement agencies such as the South African Police Service, South African National Defence Force ,Home Affairs, Border Control Management , Road Transport Inspectorate (RTI) Unit, Road Accident Fund (RAF), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA), South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL), Customs (SARS), Limpopo Provincial, Local Traffic Police and the law enforcement agencies from the SADC Countries like Zimbabwe and Zambia.

During the Operations , 39 Traffic Summons were issued, 79 Road Traffic Act violations recorded, 16 fines for contravention of Liquor Act issued and liquor confiscated , 201 Illegal Medication and 24 Conterfeit Cosmetics were confiscated and suspects arrested.

In the midst of the operations, the Minister of Transport Ms Sindisiwe Tshikunga visited the operatives at Musina weigh bridge to address the parade of multidisciplinary Forces and gave them the words of encouragement.

All the arrested suspects will appear in various magistrate court for various offences.
