STATE MINING COMPANY CEO FAILS TO APPEAR IN COURT AND WARRANT OF ARREST ISSUED

NORTHERN CAPE – State Mining Company Alexkor’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Trevor Fowler was expected to make a brief court appearance before Port Nolloth Magistrate Court, on Monday, 24 July 2023.

Mr Fowler ‘s court appearance stems from his failure to comply with a section 205 subpoena in relation to information requested by Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation. Kimberley based Serious Corruption Investigation team requested certain information from the accounting officer of Alexkor mining. This is to assist with an ongoing investigation related to alleged fraud at the mining company. The CEO’s failure to provide the requested information is hampering investigation and constitute an offence of failure to comply with subpoena under section 205 of Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.

Mr Trover Fowler did not attend court as expected and the presiding Magistrate authorised a warrant of arrest to be held over till next court appearance which is 19 September 2023.
