THE POLICE IN TUBATSE NABB A STEP FATHER FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING A 1-YEAR-OLD BABY GIRL AND ASSAULT TO THE GIRL FRIEND
POLOKWANE :The Police in Tubatse have arrested a 31-year-old male suspect for allegedly killing a 1-year-old baby girl and assaulting the girlfriend on Sunday 09 July 2023.
It is reported that the police received a complaint from Bothashoek village outside Burgersfort in Sekhukhune District on Sunday 09 July 2023 about the suspected assault of a minor by her step father.
Upon arrival of the Police at the scene of crime it is reported that a 1-year-old girl was found lying on a sofa unconscious without pulses and some bruises on the face and she was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics.
It is alleged that the suspect a step father assaulted the victim in the absence of the mother with unknown object. It is reported that the 28-year-old mother left the deceased with her 3-year-old sister at about 18:00 to search for the boyfriend at a tarven in Praktiseer.
According to the information available at this stage it alleged that the suspect returned back home before the girlfriend and subsequently assaulted the deceased. It is reported that the girlfriend also returned back home at about 20:45. On her arrival the suspect allegedly accused her of stalking him, ultimately assaulted her in the presence of their neighbours.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in LImpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has Condemned the incident. “Anyone who act violantly against the vulnerable groups deserves to be brought before the Court of the Law”. Concluded General Hadebe.
The suspect is expected to appear before Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 11 July 2023 facing charges of assault and murder domestic- violence related.
