COMPANY DIRECTOR AND TAX PRACTITIONER TO APPEAR IN COURT FOR TAX FRAUD
GAUTENG – The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Pretoria served two suspects both aged (62) with summons (J175) to appear in the Palm Ridge Court on 24 July 2023 on a charge of tax related fraud.
The security company director assisted by the Tax Practitioner, allegedly submitted fraudulent Value Added Tax (VAT) returns with the intent to defraud the South African Revenue Services (SARS) in 2016 and 2017. Further investigation revealed that SARS suffered prejudice to the amount of R1,505 192.00.
A case was opened and referred to the Hawks for further exploration which resulted to the duo being served with summons on Saturday, 8 July 2023 to appear in court.
