A 60 YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT BELIEVED TO BE A RINGLEADER OF STOCK-THEFT IN THE VHEMBE DISTRICT NABBED IN BOTLOKWA POLICING AREA

POLOKWANE: A 60 year-old male suspect believed to be a ringleader in connection with numerous stock-theft incidents that were reportedly committed in the Vhembe District was arrested by the members of the Makhado Crime Intelligence Unit and Stock-Theft Unit on Thursday 29 June 2023 in Botlokwa policing area.

The arrest emanates after police received a complaint about 7 stolen cattle that were seen driven in a Toyota bakkie with a trailer in company of an unknown motor vehicle along Rathidile village under Tshilwavhusiku precinct.

Police reacted swiftly and attempted to stop the vehicles and the unknown motor vehicle managed to drive away but the Toyota bakkie was cornered and the one male suspect was nabbed on the spot.

Subsequently, the suspect whose age is still to be determined volunteered to lead the police to the whereabouts of the ring leader who is staying at Botlokwa resulting to an intelligence driven operation conducted jointly with Makhado Stock-Theft Unit.

The 60 year-old male suspect was subsequently found and arrested in Mokomene, Vuka Section.

The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in LImpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the collaboration between the stakeholders that resulted into the arrest

The suspect is expected to appear before Morebeng Magistrates Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen livestock.
