POLICE JOINT OPERATION LED TO THE ARREST OF FIVE SUSPECTS AND RECOVERY OF FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION

POLOKWANE: A joint operation by various Police units, focusing on suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms resulted in the arrest of Five Lesotho Nationals African Males suspects aged between 23 and 35 on Tuesday, 20 June 2023 at one of Local petrol station in Maake area.

The team comprising of Tzaneen Crime Intelligence, Mopani Tracing team, Flying squad, Tactical Response Team and TTT received a tip off from Organised crime about the suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition heading to Mpumalanga province, they then followed the information and pounced on five suspects at Local filing station, the suspects motor vehicle was searched, during the arrest the following were confiscated,
150 live ammunitions of 357 magnum, 16 live ammunition of Z88, CZ 75 three 9mm Pistol, two hand radio and pump action shotgun carbin type.

The Police opened a case of, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has Commended members for the job well done in arresting the suspects and recovering the firearms.

The suspects will appear before Naphuno Magistrate’s Court soon.
