MEC Mohale ‘shocked’ after school security guard gunned down at school in Qwa Qwa

Free State Education MEC, Makalo Mohale, says he is “shocked” and in “disbelief” after hearing the news that a security guard was killed at a school in Qwa Qwa, Makwane Village.

Tsoho Samuel Motlokoa , 49 was shot dead on Thursday evening at Rantsane Secondary School.

The deceased was allegedly killed with four bullets by a man wearing baraclava who had gained unauthorised access to the school premises.

“This is the most painful news I have had to deal with since assuming office,” MEC Makalo said on Friday , having been appointed to Premier Mxolisi Dukwana’s new Cabinet in March .

“On behalf of the entire education fraternity, I wish to send heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr Motlokoa.”

MEC called on police to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for “this barbaric and heartless act”.

MEC Makalo would be visiting the Rantsane Secondary School and the family on Monday, 11 0’clock.

A grade 12 learner who witnessed the incident said the shooting occurred at 10:00 in the evening.

She said the deceased was shot on the neck.

Rantsane Secodary School Principal, Mr Sekgokgo Molete describe the deceased as the “father figure to our learners and the man who contributed immensely to the school ‘s results over the past five years.”

The victim was declared dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the police.

Psychosocial support will be provided to learners and teachers at the school.
