HAWKS SECURES ANOTHER PRESERVATION ORDER

NORTHERN CAPE- Hawks in the Northern Cape with the assistance of Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) secured a preservation order of R18 900 against Adeno Abamo (38) for corruption. The order was granted on Wednesday, 17 May 2023 by Kuruman Magistrate Court.

This follows a tipoff regarding Abamo’s attempt to bribe a Home Affairs Immigration Officer in Kuruman. The Hawks swiftly acted on information and a waylay investigation was put in place to intercept the transaction. Abamo offered to pay R18 900 to the Home affairs official in order to facilitate the unlawful release of his fellow Ethiopian friends from custody, who were arrested for illegal immigration.

After numerous court appearances, Abamo pleaded guilty for corruption and was given a fine of R20 000,00 or 5 years imprisonment.
