ILLEGAL MINER BUST FOLLOWING DISRUPTIVE OPERATIONS IN SEKHUKHUNE DISTRICT

POLOKWANE: The Members of Provincial Illegal Mining Task Team and Provincial Organized Crime Investigation unit arrested a 35-year-old male suspect after an alert , about the illegal mining activities that were in progress at Winterveld farm in Mahlakwena mountain, on Thursday, 11 May 2023.

The Police immediately followed up on the information and upon arrival at the crime scene they found white Hino 700 tipper truck half loaded with minerals and tactically pounced on the driver for illegal mining and transportation of suspected stolen minerals.

The Police confiscated, concentrated mineral soil, and illegal mining equipments that consisted of one(1)White Hino 700 tipper truck, one(1) Yellow supersonic generator, two(2) Ryobi jackhammers, two(2) Shovels, and one(1) Spade valued at R1 524 300.00.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended relentless efforts by the police in their fight against the illegal mining activities that are persistently spreading in the Sekhukhune District. ” We appreciate the valuable information being provided and we promise that we will stop at nothing in ridding the Province of Illegal Mining activities”.
