WRITER: TSHEPO C MOLOTO. YOUNG LOVERS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION BELONGING TO METRO POLICE OFFICIAL
BELA BELA -Following a tip off about two young adults being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at a hairsalon on 03 May 2023, the police in Bela Bela succeeded in arresting a 20 year old lady alongside her 22 year old boyfriend who were both found in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition believed to belong to a metro police officer.
The two were arrested at a hair salon next to old clinic in Bela Bela after the police had made a probe search in the premises and discovered a Glock Pistol, a magazine and ammunition which were hidden in the couple’s bedroom.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says that the female suspect alleged that the firearm belonged to her father who passed away, however preliminary police investigation revealed that the firearm was reported stolen on October 2021 at Woonderboom SAPS in Gauteng.
Both suspects will appear before the Bela Bela magistrate court tomorrow on Friday 05 May 2023.
