MUSINA POLICE NABBED THREE MALE SUSPECTS , RECOVER THREE UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION AND A STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

POLOKWANE: The members of Musina Task Team received an information regarding a male suspect who was allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Musina, Mshongoville Phase 13 under Vhembe District in the early hours of today on Thursday 27 April 2023 at about 00:05.

Police reacted swiftly on the information and immediately commenced with the investigation to trace the suspect who was found at a shack that was searched upon their arrival.

During the search, police discovered one unlicensed firearm that was concealed in the shack and an 18 year-old male suspect was immediately placed under arrest.

Furthermore, the suspect revealed that an unlicensed firearm was utilized to escort the illicit cigarettes and further indicated that other firearms were hidden in the bush next to Sangweni Truck Park.

Police escorted the suspect to the Truck Park and found two additional unlicensed firearms that were also hidden at the bushes.

Meanwhile, two suspects aged 22 and 25 were also apprehended at Musina Mall for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle on Wednesday 26 April 2023 at about 13:00. The Musina and Beitbridge Task Team members received an intelligence information about a suspicious motor vehicle that was parked at the mall and rushed to the vicinity.

Upon arrival, police found a silver Ford Ranger bakkie with two occupants and searched the motor vehicle but nothing illegal was found

Police conducted further investigations regarding the motor vehicle and discovered that it was robbed from the lawful owner earlier this month

The two suspects who reside at Matswale, Extension 9 Location were immediately apprehended for being in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has comended members for the sterling work that they executed in the speedy recovery of three unlicensed firearms with ammunition and a stolen motor vehicle.

The three suspects will appear before the Musina Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Police investigations are continuing.
