POLICE APPREHEND TWO SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF HOUSE BREAKING INSTRUMENTS, UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION

POLOKWANE: The fight against illegal firearms in the Province is strongly gaining momentum following the apprehension of two suspects at Thabampshe village in Masemola policing precinct under Sekhukhune District on Friday 14 April 2023.

It is alleged that Police were conducting stop and search at the village when they stopped a Toyota Quantum minibus with 14 passengers. They searched the vehicle and found two males with backpacks that were having house breaking instruments, one pair of gloves, two firearms and ammunition.

The suspects could not provide authentic documents to possess the items and were immediately placed under arrest.

During the arrest, Police confiscated two cellphones, house breaking instruments and two firearms. The fire arms will be sent for forensic evidence (ballistics) to determine if they were not involved in the commission of other crimes.

The suspects aged 36 and 41 will appear before Nebo Magistrate
Court on Monday 17 April 2023 facing charges of possession of house breaking instruments, unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Police investigations are continuing.
