THE SIMULTANEOUS JOINT OPERATIONS DURING EASTER WEEKEND YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS
POLOKWANE – The simultaneous joint operations, under Operation Paseka conducted in all Districts during Easter Weekend(Friday 07 April to 10 April 2023) across the Province led to the arrest of 1087 suspects aged between 20 and 48 for different offences.
These joint operations were formed by the Provincial Tracking Team, Crime intelligence unit, Flying Squard unit, Tactical Response team, K9, Detectives, Airwing, Organsised Crime unit, Public Order Policing unit, Vehicle Crime Investigating unit, Stock theft unit , Narcotics unit and Traffic Officers.
During these arrests, the Police confiscated items including firearms with ammunition, vehicles, knives and drugs.
The suspects will face charges ranging from murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, sexual assault, assault GBH, burglaries, malicious damage to property, theft, drug related crimes, driving under the influence of alcohol, Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, illegal immigrantion, public drinking, contravention of liquor act, contravention of protection order, contravention road traffic act.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the results achieved during these operations and applauded the Police teams involved in providing a safe and secure environment to the citizens of this province.
Suspects will soon appear before various magistrate courts across the Province.
