FATHER APPEARS IN COURT FOR KILLING HIS THREE-MONTH-OLD BABY
A Malawian national Henry Manolo (29) has appeared in the Groblershoop Magistrates` Court on charges of murder and assault. The suspect is accused of killing his three-month-old baby, as well as assaulting his life partner and mother of the child.
It is alleged that on 26 March 2023, around Boegeberg near the town of Groblershoop, the accused attacked his life partner, who was carrying the baby on her back. He then pulled and pushed the victim causing her to fall. After attacking the mother, the accused proceeded to take the baby and throw him on the pavement in the street.
The accused then took off, leaving with the injured baby, and the following morning the accused took the child to the house of his grandparents and left him there, only for the grandfather to discover that the baby was dead. The police were alerted, and the accused was arrested. The case against the accused has been remanded until 6 April 2023, for a formal bail application.
