BOYFRIEND ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS PARTNER ABANDONS BAIL
A boyfriend accused of killing his girlfriend has abandoned his bail application at Tsakani Magistrates’ Court. Kagiso Thobela (29), is facing a charge of murder for killing his 32-year-old girlfriend. It is alleged that on 12 March 2023, the two were coming back from a tavern. When they arrived at a house they shared, they started arguing and fighting.
It is alleged that the deceased ran to her 65-year-old ill fathers’ room, where he was sleeping. It is alleged that the accused ran after her and dragged her back to their room where he assaulted her with an object. Upon realising that the deceased was not moving, the accused called his friend, told him what had happened, proceeded to drink pills, and hanged himself on the roof, trying to commit suicide.
When the friend arrived at the accused place, he found the deceased on the floor in a pool of blood, he untied the accused and called the police. The accused was arrested on the scene by the police. The matter was postponed to 19 April 2023, for a transfer to the regional court.
