PERSISTENT DISRUPTIVE OPERATIONS AGAINST ILLEGAL MINING CONTINUE TO YIELD POSITIVE RESULTS FOLLOWING THE ARREST OF 28 SUSPECTS

POLOKWANE: The Police in Letsitele outside Tzaneen have arrested 28 (twenty eight) suspects aged between 19 and 51 for illegal mining activities at Mulati in Letsitele policing area. The suspects were arrested during disruptive Operations that were conducted by the local police led by the Station Commander Colonel Mkansi during Operation on Thursday, 23 March 2023.

The members confiscated equipment used for illegal mining.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commends the team involved for working tirelessly in eradicating illegal mining activities in the province.

The arrested suspects will appear before the Ritavi Magistrates Court, tomorrow on Friday 24 March 2023 facing charges of illegal mining.

The Police investigations are still ongoing.
