ANC LIMPOPO SUPPORTS THE GOVERNMENT’S PROVINCIAL PRAYER DAY INITIATIVE

The ANC in Limpopo welcomes the initiative by the Provincial Government, to host a Day of Prayer, to mitigate against the swelling numbers of road fatalities, and many other societal issues, that are affecting our people.

During his State of the Province Address, Premier Chupu Mathabatha directed the MEC for Transport and Community, Hon Florence Radzilani, to convene a Provincial Day of Prayer, which will convene congregants from different walks of religions and parts of the Province, to one event of prayer.

This clarion call was made as a result of the numerous fatalities on the Provincial roads, including the accident that occurred in February, in Makhado – Vhembe Region, where 22 people perished. Subsequent to that, there was also the Groblersdal accident which claimed 16 lives, including 7 learners.

In addition to these, there had been several other incidents of road fatalities, which made the Provincial Government saw the need to have such an event.

The ANC in Limpopo supports this initiative, as it also seeks to bring to the fore, issues of safety and security of our people. The Provincial Day of Prayer will also bring under the spotlight, a myriad of social ills, that are currently permeating in society.

The other area of concern, as noted by the ANC in Limpopo, is the rising levels of crime, as indicated by the recent SAPS quarterly crime statistics report.

The ANC in Limpopo bemoans that, there are police stations in the province, that fall under the category of top stations with high crime levels, in the country.

The ANC supports the Provincial Prayer Day initiative, scheduled as follows;
• Date: Friday, 31 March 2023
• Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane.

The ANC calls upon all its structures and organs of civil society to be a part of this auspicious occasion.
