INTELLIGENCE DRIVEN JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION AND DEALING IN DRUGS

POLOKWANE: An Intelligence driven joint operation comprising Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit and Crime Intelligence Counter Narcotics Unit paid off when three suspects aged between 34 and 44 were arrested during separate incidents in the City of Polokwane for dealing and possession of drugs worth thousands of rands.

On Saturday, 04 March 2023, the operatives followed up on information regarding suspects allegedly distributing different drugs at the parks near schools across the City. Observation was done by the Organised Crime and Crime Intelligence at the identified areas.Two male suspects were spotted carrying refuse bags. They were stopped and searched and the following drugs were found concealed inside the bags; 227 sachets of Heroine, 21 sachets of Crystal Meth and 15 sachets of Kat all to the value of R25 000.00. The two Nigerian foreign nationals aged 34 and 40 were arrested.

During the similar operation that was conducted on Wednesday March 1, a 44-year-old male suspect was arrested in the CBD, along Excelsior street next to the Indian Centre. This after information was received about a Nigerian foreign national selling drugs at the taxi rank. During the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of 370 sachets of Heroine , 5 sachets of Crystal Meth and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised this team of members for their perseverance in ridding the communities of drugs and their dedication to apprehend those that peddle drugs on our streets.

The first suspect has already appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. Meanwhile the two suspects are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday 06 March 2023.

Police investigations are still continuing.
