PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER HAILS THE ARREST OF FIVE HOUSE ROBBERY SUSPECTS DURING STING OPERATIONS CONDUCTED IN THREE PROVINCES

POLOKWANE : The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended police operatives for arresting five suspects for house robbery following sting Operations conducted on Tuesday 28 February 2023 in three Provinces.

A multidisciplinary operation comprising members of Detectives, Tracing and Crime Intelligence Units within the Nebo policing precinct was activated to trace and arrest the wanted suspects of a house robbery that was reported in December 2022.

Police operationalized the information received which led them to Middleburg in Mpumalanga, Tembisa in Ekuruleni as well as Roodepoort, West Rand in Gauteng Province where two
female and three male suspects were arrested.

The Police in Nebo received information on Monday 27 February 2023 about the wanted suspect allegedly involved in a house robbery and immediately responded. The information was collaboratively operationalised by the Station Detectives, Tracing Units and Marble Hall Crime Intelligence Unit.

The first female suspect was arrested at Ga Marishane in Sekhukhune District followed by another female suspect apprehended in Middleburg in Mpumalanga Province. The third male suspect was nabbed in Rooderpoort in the West Rand. The Team pounced on two more male suspects whilst sleeping in a room at Tembisa in Ekhuruleni, Gauteng province at about 03h30 in the morning.

It is alleged that on Thursday 15 December 2022 at about 21:15 unknown males and females entered an 8 roomed house at Ga Phaahla village in Sekhukhune District and pointed the complainant with a firearm and demanded money from him and ultimately they took his bank cards and his motor vehicle, a Mazda CX-3 and fled the scene.

The vehicle was later found abandoned on the street the same night of the incident. Only a pair of sneakers was recovered during the arrest of the suspects.

“The actions of these members clearly display our commitment to the reduction of crime and their determination is highly commendable,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspects, aged between 34 and 39 are expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on Friday 03 March 2023, facing charges of House Robbery.
