The DA in Limpopo would like to congratulate the DA Student Organisation (DASO) for winning the majority of seats yet again during an SRC election held at Mavhoi Campus (Vhembe TVET) in Makhado, while also winning seats at the Musina and Thengwe campuses on Thursday, 16 February 2021.

DASO contested nine positions at Mavhoi Campus and won five seats during this SRC Election,South African Students Congress (SASCO) won one seat, and the rest were won by independent candidates.

DASO also managed to win two seats at the Thengwe campus and one seat at the Musina campus, where they were contesting elections for the first time. This is just another indication that support for the DA continues to grow among the youth in Vhembe.

The successful DASO candidates across all three Vhembe TVET College campuses were:

Mavhoi Campus:

Deputy President: Cynthia Dzhivhuwo

Deputy Secretary: Tshifiwa Sibata

Treasurer: Maduvha Netshifhefhe

Sports: Itani Mapalu

Disability: Mulanga Madega

Thengwe Campus:

Deputy Secretary: Lucky Mpho Nemalale

Disability: Talifhani Ramalivhana

Musina Campus:
Secretary: Mveledziso Mugwena

This result shows that DASO continues to build on its excellent track record at the Mavhoi campus, having occupied seven seats last year and five seats in 2021.

This success indicates the confidence the students have in the DA to implement real change and create a new and prosperous beginning that will provide hope and opportunities as well as address crippling youth unemployment.

We look forward to working with this team to continue to ensure that all the challenges faced by students, including student safety, late NSFAS payments, and insufficient classrooms and labs to carry out practicals, are prioritised and addressed.

We wish this new SRC leadership well and congratulate them for being unwavering in their dedication to student interests.
