THE ALLEGED KILLER OF A HIGH SCHOOL LEARNER ABANDONS BAIL
A man accused of killing a grade 10 learner from Gelkusdal high school, Ameeruddin Dino Prince (31), has abandoned his bail application at Tsakani Magistrates’ Court. He is facing a charge of murder for killing a 17-year-old boy, Shaun Mphela. It is alleged that on 02 February 2023, a learner who is a relative of the accused, pepper sprayed a group of learners during break time at school. After school, it is alleged that the group of learners fought with the learner who pepper sprayed them. The deceased was amongst those learners.
The deceased was among those learners, and it is alleged that the family was informed about the fight, and at that point, it is alleged that the accused came and stabbed the deceased, and he died on the scene. The accused was arrested the same day after he was apprehended by the community members and has been in custody since.
The matter was adjourned to 24 March 2023, for a transfer to the regional court.
