EFF STATEMENT ON THE N1 ACCIDENT THAT CLAIMED THE LIVES OF 20 PEOPLE
IN MAKHADO.
Tuesday, 14 February 2023.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo sends its sincere condolences
to the families of 20 people who died in a tragic accident when a tour bus and a
cash-in-transit van collided on the N1 North towards Musina, in Makhado on
Monday, 13 February 2023.
The EFF is deeply saddened by the loss of lives and would like to warn motorists,
pedestrians, and residents to exercise utmost caution as heavy rains continue
wreaking havoc in parts of the province. Wet weather conditions are usually
associated with poor visibility, therefore motorists should turn on their
headlights and ensure that tyres are also in good condition.
It isreported that 68 people were left injured after the bus landed in a river after
rolling from a bridge on the freeway. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured
who have since been hospitalised following the accident.
The search and rescue team must ensure that all the passengers who might have
been swept away by the river, are found, and accounted for.
May the departed souls rest in perfect peace.
