DISRUPTION OF SRC ELECTIONS AT MOPANI SOUTH EAST

EFF STATEMENT ON DISRUPTION OF SRC ELECTIONS AT MOPANI SOUTH EAST
TVET COLLEGE.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo notes with concern the
disruption of election process during the SRC elections that took place at Mopani
South East TVET College, Sir Val Duncan Campus in Phalaborwa on Friday, 10
February 2023.
Although the elections in Phalaborwa Campus went relatively smooth, where
the EFFSC received three seats while SASCO received four seats, we strongly
condemn the political intolerance that transpired in Sir Val Duncan Campus.
The ANC in Mopani seeing that its political power is slipping away, sent its
members mainly bed-wetting drunkards and thugs who forced entry into the
voting station, where they destroyed ballot papers and ballot boxes and further
mugged party agents from various student formations of their cell phones. This
comes after they were informed by SASCO party agent during counting of votes,
that votes were not in their favour and that the EFFSC would win the elections.
By all indications, the ANC is desperate for power hence resorting to violence
and thuggery. The conduct of IEC Presiding Officer (PO) raises eyebrows, and we
believe that the PO is complicit in the commission of this crime as he failed to
report the matter to the police. We urge the IEC to take appropriate action
against the PO for compromising the integrity of the election.
A case of theft and malicious damage to property has been opened at
Namakgale Police Station under CAS:66/02/2023.
Furthermore, the EFF calls on SAPS to act swiftly and apprehend the culprits to
curtail counter revolutionary tendencies. We appeal to all ground forces to
remain focused and mobilise students to vote for the EFFSC.
Victory is certain!
