ANC in KZN welcomes the reconfiguration of the ANC-led provincial government

Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme House: The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the reconfiguration of the Provincial Executive Council as announced by Comrade Nomusa Dube-Ncube in her capacity as the Premier.

We have confidence in Cde Super Zuma who is the new MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Cde Super is the former Member of Parliament who has served in various portfolio committees in many capacities. He has demonstrated an understanding of how to ensure service delivery as the chair of committees that played an oversight role over the executive. He will work with the farming community to ensure that agriculture becomes our solution to both food insecurity and unemployment.

Critically, Cde Super Zuma will drive the programme of Agriculture Revolution.

We have agreed as the ANC that deracialization and the redistribution of wealth in the agricultural sector must receive priority.

This is extremely important considering the fact that this province has a total of 6.5 million hectares of land for farming purposes of which more than 82% is suitable for extensive livestock production and more than 18% is arable land.

The ANC is focusing on how to utilise this land to produce vegetables, fruit and meat products for consumption and for exports to other countries. We want also want emerging farmers to produce agricultural products for domestic consumption and exports.

Equally, we welcome the deployment of Cde Bongi Sithole-Moloi as the new MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs. She has a wealth of experience in government and at municipal level As the former Mayor, she will strive towards ensuring  clean governance. Her main focus will also be on solid service delivery across all corners of the province.

We are making  a call to all councilors to uphold the principles of the Constitution of the Republic.   Councillors must serve the community with humility and a sense of urgency. They must fully understand that failure to do so will be equal to betraying the very source of our struggle for a free and democratic South Africa.

In addition, Cde Bongi Sithole Moloi will strengthen relations with the institution of traditional leadership. She will strengthen ties with the Royal Household in particular.

As the ANC we want our deployees to listens to challenges faced by traditional leaders. They must work with them to find lasting solutions in their communities.

We recognize this institution as the custodian of our culture and customs. It plays a significant role in the preservation of our customs, heritage, and largely, in the development of our traditional communities.

We wish to congratulate the new MECs and as the ANC we are calling upon the people of KwaZulu-Natal to work with them as they execute their new responsibilities.
