EFF STATEMENT ON ATTEMPTED MURDER AGAINST EFF PARTY LEADER IN
FETAKGOMO-TUBATSE MUNICIPALITY.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo welcomes the arrest of DA
Councillor in the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality Thabo Makofane, after
he attempted kill EFF Party Leader in the same Municipality, Fighter Walter
Molapo on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.
The DA thug came to council with a firearm during a council meeting in which
he started hailing insults against EFF Councillors. It was when Molapo responded
to him when he became a target as he was then followed in the bathroom,
where the DA gangster pointed him with a firearm for being vocal in the
municipal council.
Accordingly, a case of assault with intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH)
and pointing of firearm has been opened at the Apel Police Station against the
DA Cllr and he is due to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court
tomorrow, the 2nd of February 2023.
In attempts to suppress the case the DA councillor opened a counter charge of
malicious damage to property after he drove his own car into the gate of the
municipality to create an impression that he was also under attack. This is an
indication of the DA’s desperation for political relevance, therefore the DA Cllr
must face the full might of the law. We will remain resolute and undeterred in
pursuit of justice for Fighter Molapo, who is also a member of the EFF Provincial
Command Team (PCT).
The EFF strongly condemns the violent and aggressive behaviour by the DA Cllr
which undermines the Council proceedings and threatens the life of other
councillors. It is clear that his disruptive intentions were nefarious and equally
the municipality must take disciplinary actions against him, his conduct is
barbaric and cannot be tolerated.
The EFF is appealing to the court to deny Makofane bail because he remains a
danger to society and deserves jail time.
