MAN ACCUSED OF MURDER ABANDONS HIS BAIL APPLICATION
Tebogo Freddy Monyela (39) abandoned his bail application at Tsakane Magistrates’ Court. Monyela is facing a charge of murder of a 41-year-old male. It is alleged that on the early hours of 21 November 2022, the deceased received a WhatsApp message sent by Monyela from his girlfriend’s phone asking him to come over. Upon his arrival it is alleged that he was attacked and assaulted by the accused.
When he tried to run it is alleged that the accused chased after him and continued to assault him with an iron bar on his head and he fell. Community members who witnessed the incident called an ambulance. The deceased was taken to hospital where he later died due to injuries sustained during the assault.
Monyela was arrested on 02 December 2022 after his girlfriend reported him to the police where he later made a confession.
The matter was postponed to 02 February2023 for further investigations.
