LIMPOPO HEALTH MEC DR PHOPHI RAMATHUBA TO HANDOVER FORENSIC PATHOLOGY WORKING TOOLS

LUTENDO LIVHEBE – MUDAU. Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba will handover 12 collection vehicles for forensic pathology at The Ranch Hotel in the Capricorn District. These forensic pathology vehicles will be of great help in equipping the forensic pathology unit in the province as they render services in all the 5 districts in the province.

Forensic Pathology renders medico-legal investigation services to determine causes of unnatural deaths and plays a big role in crime scenes. Forensic Pathologist is a specialist pathology whose area of competence is the examination of persons who died suddenly, unexpectedly or violently.

“It is unfortunately that as a department we are forced to buy these vehicles due to increased violence, crime and motor vehicle accidents. These traumas that are taking innocent lives of our people are in majority man made and can be avoided, and the money towards these resources could be directed towards service delivery. These vehicles, will be used to respond to various death scenes such as road traffic fatalities that are a problem particularly during the festive season and the fatal Gender Based Violence(GBV) cases that requires forensic pathology services to respond to those scenes. As we will be handing over these vehicles, we appreciate the commitment by the forensic pathology officials and encourage them as we enter one of the busy periods, the festive season”, said MEC Ramathuba.

The handover has been scheduled for Monday, 05th December 2022 at The Ranch Hotel( Polokwane Municipality-Capricorn District) from11h00
