COURT DISMISSES INTERLOCUTORY APPLICATION BY THE DEFENCE TO COMPEL STATE TO PROVIDE BETTER PARTICULARS IN R24.9MILLION NULANE CASE

The High Court of South Africa, Free State Division, Bloemfontein has today dismissed the application by the defence to compel the state to provide further particulars in the Nulane Investment R24.9 million corruption matter.

The application was brought by Islandsite Investment, represented by Ronica Ragavan as well as Ragavan in her personal capacity and Dinesh Patel. The State has in the past provided further particulars as well as further and better particulars as requested by the defence.

Immediately after Judge Mbhele gave her judgment in the State’s favour, with regards to the Application to Compel, the defence brought an application for a Special Entry to be made on the record of alleged irregularity or illegality, in terms of Section 317(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act.

Judgement has been reserved in respect of the special entry request by the defence.

The case is scheduled to commence trial next year from 23 January to 03 March 2023.
