PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER OF POLICE IN LIMPOPO ORDERS MANHUNT AFTER TRADITIONAL LEADER KILLED IN HAMAKHUVHA NDARIENI VILLAGE
POLOKWANE : The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a 59-year-old traditional leader following a housebreaking and robbery incident at the Traditional Authority’s Royal House in Hamakhubva Ndarieni village under the policing area of Thohoyandou.
It is alleged that during the early hours of Monday, 02 March 2026, at approximately 00:00, two unknown suspects forcibly gained entry into the residence by breaking a window. Upon entering, they reportedly demanded money and vehicle keys.
During the incident, one victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The 59-year-old traditional leader was tragically declared deceased at the scene.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene with a white Toyota Hilux (registration number FVN 938L), a laptop, a television set, and two cellular phones.
The suspects were reportedly wearing balaclavas and security-type uniforms. One suspect was armed with a firearm, while the other carried a knife.
Lieutenant General Hadebe has directed the police to utilise all available resources to track and apprehend the suspects.
“I have set up a specialized team to mobilise necessary resources to ensure that these perpetrators are swiftly brought to book to face the full might of the law. We call upon our communities and all relevant stakeholders to assist the police with information that may lead to the arrest of these ruthless criminals,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
