POLICE HAVE LAUNCHED A SEARCH FOR SUSPECTS WHO FIRED SHOTS WITH FIREARMS DURING AT A FUNERAL SERVICE UNDER ELANDSRAAL POLICING AREA

POLOKWANE: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has noted with a serious concern a video circulating in social media depicting individuals randomly firing shots at the funeral . She has then directed the Provincial Tracking Team to hunt down those responsible for randomly firing shots in public and by so doing acting in contravention of the provision of the Firearms Control Act.
The members of the Provincial Tracking Team are hard at work of unmasking these individuals with a view to have the suspects face the full might of the law . Report suggest that this disturbing incident happened during a funeral service at Kliphavul village under Elandskraal policing area, Sekhukhune District on Saturday 21 February 2026 at about 10:30.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a group of mourners were at a funeral service of their colleague who was involved in the towing industry. While at the graveyard, the suspects, apparently, they started to discharge firearms during the burial of their colleague.

A case of negligence handling of firearm and ammunition was opened, and investigations are underway to identify the suspects with a view to charge them and also to seize the firearms utilized in the commission of the crime.
