POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOLLOWING A GRUESOME DISCOVERY OF BODY OF YOUNG WOMAN IN MATEKERENG VILLAGE
POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the Police in Seshego, outside Polokwane for the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old woman whose body was discovered at Moletji Matekereng on Monday, 24 November 2025.
Police were alerted to the scene and, upon arrival, found the deceased lying on her back and half-naked. She had sustained severe injuries to her upper body.
The victim has been identified, but her identity is being withheld at this stage as investigations continue.
Following intensive investigative efforts, the suspect was traced and apprehended today Tuesday, 2 December 2025. Further profiling revealed that he was also wanted for a rape case reported in Seshego in February 2024. The suspect has been on the run since the incident.
“The Seshego Detective Commander and his team did a sterling job by tracking and tracing this suspect for the heinous act of violence . Gender Based Violence and Femicide has been declared a national disaster and it is for this reason that everyone should play a role in fighting this scourge ” Concluded General Hadebe .
The arrested suspect will appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 04 December 2025, facing charges of rape and murder, including the outstanding rape case committed in 2024.
Police investigations are continuing.
