[19:24, 11/29/2025] Col MJ: POLICE IN LEBOWAKGOMO ARE INVESTIGATING MURDER CASE EMANATING FROM AN ALLEGED MOB ATTACK INCIDENT

POLOKWANE The Police in Lebowakgomo, Capricorn district are investigating a case of murder emanating from the mob attack incident, where a male accused of house invasion was allegedly attacked by members of the community in Lebowakgomo zone A.

The VISPOL members received a complaint of malicious damage to property at Lebowakgomo zone A. They proceeded to the scene of crime and on arrival they found the alleged suspect (victim) severely injured as a result of the mob justice incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the alleged (suspect) was caught red-handed, busy damaging the ceiling at a certain house in zone A by the child.

The child screamed for help and members of the community noticed the incident in progress. The suspect allegedly fell from the roof and was assaulted before the police were summoned.

The victim was then taken to hospital with severe injuries and pronounced dead on his arrival. The deceased is alleaged to be middle-aged and unknown at this stage.

The police have opened cases of malicious damage to property, against deceased and murder against the community members.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe warned the members of the community who continue taking the law into their own hands. “No one has the right to assault anyone, regardless of the nature of the offence, anyone acting outside the ambit of the law will be dealt with decisively in terms of the law”
