POLOKWANE – The Police in Lebowakgomo under Capricorn District have opened a case of Assault with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) following an incident that occurred at a secondary school in Seleteng village on Sunday, 26 October 2025 at about 04:30.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 19-year-old male learner was allegedly assaulted by a female Grade 12 learner aged 18, while they were camping at the school in preparation for their final examinations.

It is alleged that the complainant was sleeping inside one of the classrooms when the suspect approached him and accused him of touching her private parts. The complainant reportedly denied the allegations, and the suspect initially left but later returned and poured him with boiling water.

The victim sustained burn injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

At this stage, no arrest has been made, and the investigation is continuing.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers , has strongly condemned the incident and directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated to ensure that justice prevails.

“We take incidents of violence, especially among learners, very seriously. Such acts have no place in our learning institutions and must be dealt with decisively.
