INTENSIVE POLICE INVESTIGATION LED TO THE ARREST OF A 45-YEAR-OLD MAN IN CONNECTION WITH CARJACKING AND MURDER OF A MALE TEACHER IN MALAMULELE

POLOKWANE: The intensified police investigations led to the arrest of a male suspect in connection with carjacking and murder that occurred on 15 August 2019 in Makumeke Mxadzi Ville, Malamulele Policing area.

According to reports the members of Giyani Detectives received information about the wanted murder suspect on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, at about 12h00. They swiftly conducted an operation and the suspect aged 45 was arrested at Nkowankowa Complex, under Ritavi policing area.

Preliminary reports indicates that on the fatefull day in 2019 the Police were summoned to a murder scene at Makumeke Mxadzi Ville, and upon arrival, they found a male victim laying on the ground with bullet wounds. He was certified dead at the scene by paramedics. He was identified as Matimu Chauke (31), a high school teacher around Malamulele policing area. A case of carjacking and murder was registered for further investigation.

Following Police investigation and the assistance of the tracking company ,the deceased’s vehicle, a blue VW Polo, was found abandoned at the Vuwani policing area, a few days after the incident in 2019.

The suspect will appear before Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 29 August 2025.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest. “This arrest is a true reminder that no matter how long it takes to track the criminal , the wheel of justice will eventually catch up with you.” Concluded General Hadebe

The Police investigations are ongoing.
