A RAPE SUSPECT DUE TO APPEAR BEFORE COURT FOR RAPE
POLOKWANE: A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested on Sunday, 17 August 2025, at Hoedspruit Plastic view, and he will appear before Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.
According to the reports, on Saturday at about 19:00, a 34-year-old victim was with her boyfriend at the nearest tavern when a male adult known to the boyfriend joined them and was introduced as a friend.
At approximately 23:00, the victim decided to leave the tavern and return home. The suspect informed the victim that he would accompany her home, but that they needed to pass by his house so he could put on a jersey.
When they arrived at the suspect’s home, they entered the room, where he closed the door and violently raped her.
He then kept her in the shack for the night before releasing her in the morning.
The victim reported the incident to the police, and the suspect was traced, arrested, on Sunday, 17 August 2025, and charged with rape.
He will appear before the Hoedspruit court on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.
Police investigations are ongoing.
