A 40 YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT GRANTED R5,000.00 BAIL FOLLOWING FRAUD CHARGES

POLOKWANE: A 40 year old male suspect apprehended for fraud charges has appeared before the Malamulele Magistrate court on Monday 12 May 2025. Tinyiko Gift Mangolele was granted R5,000.00 bail and will make his second appearance at Giyani Specialised court on 29 May 2025.

During the month of April 2024, Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) opened a case for investigation of fraudulent claims made by the suspect after contacting a Medical Aid members to provide their details with a promise of giving them cash back and also an option of getting green cross shoes.

Furthermore, Tinyiko who is the owner and Director of a Pharmacy at Malamulele used the information of two Medical Doctors without their permission to make claims of medication that needed the Doctor’s prescription.

Through intensive investigation conducted, it was further established that other members of GEMS never consulted with the Doctors but claims were made on their behalf.

As a result, the Medical Aid suffered a total loss of nine hundred and ten thousand rands (R910.000) between January 2018 until September 2022.

On Monday, 12 May 2025, the suspect was subsequently nabbed by the members of Provincial Commercial Crime Unit while at Malamulele policing area.

Police investigations are continuing.
