TRIO APPEARED IN COURT FOR FRAUD ALLEGATIONS AND THEFT

LIMPOPO: Mafane Kenneth Lekala (53) a former school governing body chairperson, Ngwanamotsogana Rebecca Magaele (45) School governing body additional member and Rantweu Simon Makweng (55) school governing body deputy chairperson, had appeared before Nebo Magistrates Court on 02 April 2025 on allegations of fraud and theft. The trio was arrested by Polokwane Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team.

it is alleged that the former principal of Kwenatshwene Primary school based in Ngwaritsi Village, Nebo had inspected a cheque book, he then discovered that some of the cheque book’s pages were missing without indication of where the money was paid to.

Furthermore an inspection was made by the former principal who discovered that several cheques were signed by Mr Lekala without principal’s and the school’s financial officer’s knowledge. The matter was reported to the Hawks for further investigation.

The Hawks’ investigation confirmed the allegations, orchestrated by the three accused who made the school suffer a loss of R82 780.00 hence their arrest on 01 April 2025.

The trio appeared before Nebo Magistrates Court on 02 April 2025 and were released on R10 000.00 bail each with their matter postponed to 28 May 2025 for further investigation.
