ACCUSED SENTENCED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLINCED FIREARM
NORTHERN CAPE- The Kimberley Magistrate court convicted and sentenced Mr Le Roy Louw (32) on Wednesday, 02 April 2025 for possession of unlicensed firearm.
The accused was arrested in February 2022 during a disruptive operation conducted by Provincial Organised Crime.
Members received information regarding an unlicensed firearm that is kept at the accused’s house. A search and seizure disruptive operation was conducted at the accused’s home in Roodepan, Kimberley and members managed to recover the unlicensed firearm as per tip off.
The matter was therefore referred to the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for further probing. The accused made a series of court appearances until his sentencing.
Louw was sentenced to pay a fine of R 5000.00 or two (2) years imprisonment. He was further sentenced to two (2) years imprisonment which is wholly suspected for period of five (5) years on condition that accused is not found guilty for possession of unlicensed firearm during period of suspension. He is declared unfit to possess a firearm
