A 24-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT NABBED FOR KIDNAPPING AND RAPE OF A WOMAN AGED 19 AT HLOGOTLOU
POLOKWANE: A 24-year-old male suspect was arrested in the early hours of Monday, 23 September 2024, for kidnapping and, and allegedly raping a 19-year-old female at Sephaku village in the Hlogotlou policing area.
According to information, the victim was at her residence at about 19:00 on Sunday, 22 September 2024, when her children’s father who is her ex boyfriend, called her name in the streets. She went outside to check and she found him. He allegedly told her to come closer to his vehicle as he wanted to give her their second child’s diapers. Upon her moving closer , the suspect grabbed her, threatened to kill her and forced her into his vehicle and drove away with her.
Her family noticed that the victim was not returning home. They reported the incident to police, as there is an active protection order against the suspect.
Police made follow-up and the victim was located the following day on Monday, 23 September 2024 at around 00:30 in Luckau village at the suspect’s residence. The victim reported that the suspect also raped her. Police opened cases of kidnapping and rape. The suspect was then arrested.
The suspect will appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, facing charges of kidnapping and rape.
