FOUR AK-47S RECOVERED AS SUSPECTED POLICEWOMAN KILLERS ARRESTED IN THE WEST RAND

GAUTENG – Four males suspected to be involved in the merciless shooting and killing of Constable Nthabiseng Bridget Mosidi (46) and Nkosinathi Ndlela, a taxi owner, outside Kagiso police station on Thursday, 22 August 2024, have been detained.

The four aged between 27 and 46 were arrested this morning around 02:00, following an operation conducted by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team and the police’s Tactical Response Team (TRT).

They were arrested at their addresses in Witpoortjie and Mohlakeng, respectively. Four AK-47 rifles and hordes of ammunition were seized during the arrests.

The motive of the murders is suspected to be a taxi association turf war as all suspects are in the taxi industry. On the fateful day around 12:30, the deceased were sitting in a vehicle parked outside of Kagiso police station when suddenly a blue iX 35 Hyundai stopped next to their vehicle and shot them several times with rifles. The assailants then fled the scene whilst the victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

The four suspects, three of whom are relatives, are currently being processed. They are to face charges of murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, and ammunition. Possibilities of them being linked to other violent crimes in the province have not been ruled out. They are expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court in the first week of September.

The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks in Gauteng Brigadier Paulina Sekgobela has hailed the team for their tireless efforts in ensuring that the suspected killers are arrested barely a week following the gruesome incident.
