A 31-YEAR-OLD MALE ACCUSED SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS IN PRISON

POLOKWANE- The Mokopane Regional Court, handed down a long jail term of ten years direct imprisonment to the accused Andries Mabuela (31) for cases of house breaking with intent to commit unknown offence and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm , on Tuesday, 27 August 2024.

His sentencing is subsequent to court trial that found that on 25 February 2024, the accused went to the victim’s house at Pola Park in Mahwelereng, entered , and threatened the victim .The court also heard that the woman phoned her Husband after she suspected that there was a suspicious person on top of the roof.
Her husband who quickly rushed home and upon his arrival, he met an unknown male inside his house.At that time she was tied on the chair with a rope and she was also assaulted He managed to Cornette suspect and screamed for help. Community members responded, and the suspect was caught. Police were summoned, and he was handed to the Police who immediately apprehended him.

They registered a case of house breaking with the intent to commit an unknown offense and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm . The woman was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The case was allocated to Detective Constable Evolter Moima attached to Mahwelereng Detectives. The accused, Andries Mabuela (31), was denied bail until he was finally convicted and sentenced to eight years direct imprisonment for count 01: house breaking with the intent to commit an unknown offense, for count 02: assault GBH he was sentenced to two years direct imprisonment.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo SAPS Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the sentencing and applauded everyone who participated in the case until the perpetrator was sent to jail.
