DISBARRED ATTORNEY IN CUSTODY FOR FRAUD
GAUTENG – A disbarred Attorney, Siphiweyinkosi Livingstone Majola (48), of Majola Mthembu Attorneys was arrested in, KwaZulu Natal by the Gauteng based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team on Tuesday, 20 August 2024.
Majola consequently appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates Court the next day. The matter against Majola emanates from a case of fraud that was registered at Mondeor police station in August 2016. It was reported that Majola acted as a Conveyancer’s attorney for a sale of property to an aspirant buyer. The Hawks’ investigation revealed that late in November 2015, a total sum of R674 000 was transferred to Majola Mthembu Attorneys Trust account to initiate the transaction. After the transfer of funds was done, Majola started ducking and diving, which was a clear indication that he had used the funds for personal gain.
Majola’s case has been transferred to Gauteng. The bail hearing commenced on Friday, 23 August, in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court. It has been postponed to Thursday, 29th August, pending verification of additional details.
