POLICE RECOVER UNLICENSED FIREARM AND CONTINUE WITH MANHUNT FOR SUSPECT

POLOKWANE As part of efforts to eradicate illegal firearms, a joint operation by members of SAPS Capricorn District, Lebowakgomo, and Magatle led to the recovery of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and a magazine at Mahlareng village in Magatle policing area outside Lebowakgomo.

The operation was conducted after receiving information about a suspect from Makgopong village in possession of a firearm and threatening community members at a tavern in
Mehlareng village. Although the suspect evaded arrest, officers recovered the firearm with ammunition dropped by the suspect.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the operation, saying: “We are committed to addressing the scourge of illegal firearms in our province and ensuring the safety of our communities.”
