LIMPOPO PREMIER SADDENED BY THE PASSING OF PROFESSOR MUXE NKONDO AND SENDS A MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has received with sadness news of the passing away of Professor Muxe Nkondo on the 18 August 2024 at the age of 83 and would like to extend her deepest condolences on behalf of the people of Limpopo to the family, friends and the country.

Prof Nkondo was a visionary leader who made significant contributions to society, particularly in the field of education. His impact in shaping perspectives for transformation at the University of Limpopo and the University of Venda, where he served as vice-chancellor and principal, will be remembered and cherished. His vision for prioritizing science and technology at the University of Venda had left a lasting legacy in the academic community.

As a social policy, national strategy development and discourse analysis scholar, Prof Nkondo’s influence extended beyond the academic realm. His roles in Limpopo and country wide have left an indelible mark on the development of education and society as a whole.

“We are deeply grateful for the knowledge and guidance that Prof Nkondo provided to students, workers, and all he interacted with. Prof Nkondo was the first ever SRC president of the University of Limpopo. His leadership has shaped the minds and characters of many, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. The people of Limpopo are proud to have produced a gallant fighter of his caliber,” concluded Dr Ramathuba.
