A 26 YEAR-OLD MALE ACCUSED HANDED A LENGHTHY SENTENCE FOR MURDER OF THREE FAMILY MEMBERS

POLOKWANE: The Limpopo Division of High court sitting in Polokwane has on Monday 12 August 2024 handed a lengthy sentence against a 26 year-old male accused convicted for the murder of his three family members at Breda village under Gilead policing area. Waterburg District.

The court heard that on 10 July 2023, the accused Tlou Milford Seanego had a heated argument with a 19 year-old female sister. During the argument, the accused attempted to assault her and their mother aged 59 tried to intervene. The accused took a sharp object and hacked both his mother and sister with it.

Furthermore, the accused brutally killed a 09 year-old niece who was also present during the incident and fled the scene on foot afterwards. Police together with members of the Emergency and Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene and declared the trio dead on their arrival.

Police immediately commenced with a manhunt of the suspect that resulted in his apprehension the same day of the incident while hiding at the bushes next to Breda village.

The matter was assigned to Sergeant Mammila Thabo Selolo attached to Gilead Detective Unit for further investigations. Through diligence and sterling detective work, Sergeant Selolo managed to oppose bail until his sentencing on Monday 12 August 2024.

Tlou Milford Seanego subsequently pleaded guilty on three charges of murder and the judgement was handed as follows:

Count 1 – Murder – 20 years imprisonment.
Count 2 – Murder – 20 years imprisonment.
Count 3 – Murder – 20 years imprisonment.

In addition, a sentence of 15 years in count 3 to run concurrently with sentences in count 1 and 2, thus indicating that the accused will be effectively incarcerated for a period of 25 years.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the lengthy incarceration of Tlou Milford Seanego who displayed inhumane behaviour while executing these heinous crimes.
