LIMPOPO BOY BUJWA APOLOGIZES FOR FACEBOOK POST ABOUT MAPUNGUBWE YOUTH FESTIVAL
Limpopo-based artist and dancer, Limpopo Boy Bujwa, has issued a public apology following a Facebook post in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the upcoming Mapungubwe Youth and Diva Festival 2025 lineup.
The well-known performer admitted that his concerns were raised prematurely and that he should have used his direct access to the Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Funani Maseko, to address them privately.
In his statement, Limpopo Boy acknowledged that his emotional response led him to make the post on social media instead of following proper consultation channels. He emphasized that performing at government events is not a right but a privilege and expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has received from the department in the past.
“I, like most artists in the province, have direct access to the MEC and his senior management. I should have used my access to raise my concerns instead of posting them publicly,” Limpopo Boy stated. He further explained that after consulting with his management, he decided to remove the post and apologize.
The performer also distanced himself from social media attacks directed at MEC Maseko and the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture using his name and image. He urged his supporters to stop using his name in the controversy, as his concerns have already been addressed.
“I humbly request my fans and supporters to refrain from using my picture and name to attack the department. I immediately withdrew my post and my concerns have been resolved,” he added.
Despite the initial misunderstanding, Limpopo Boy expressed his support for the festival and encouraged young people to attend in large numbers to celebrate the province’s rich talent and culture.
The Limpopo Mapungubwe Youth and Diva Festival is scheduled to take place on March 8 at Musina Showground and will showcase a variety of artists from across the province.
