MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING TWO POLICE OFFICERS REMANDED CUSTODY

Daniel Wilfred Alberts(38), who is accused of killing two members of the South African Police Service has appeared in the Kimberley District Court. The accused is facing two counts of murder, three counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, one count of theft of motor vehicle as well as one count of theft. During his first appearance, the accused informed the court that he won’t be applying for bail.

The accused will be sent for a psychiatric evaluation and the report will be provided to the court after he indicated to the court that he had been admitted to several psychiatric facilities. He will be remanded in custody until 05 October 2023, when he is expected to appear in court virtually. Investigations led by the police are continuing in this matter.
